GJ Insurance Group is proud to announce Listen To Our Future Inc. as the newest beneficiary of our Community Cause campaign. This inspiring nonprofit is dedicated to empowering youth through education, leadership, and social action. Founded in 2020 by Lillian Barkes and Brandon Street, Listen To Our Future is a BIPOC-led organization based in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a mission to equip young people with the tools, confidence, and opportunities to create meaningful change in their communities.

Circle City Relief began with a simple idea: no one should go hungry, and no one should feel forgotten. What started as an inspiration from a mission trip in 2009 has grown into a faith-driven lifeline for the 34th and Meridian community. Over 624,000 slices of pizza and 2.4 million food items have been shared here—not as handouts, but as invitations to something greater. But beyond the food, Circle City Relief is about feeding the soul—sharing the word of God and guiding people toward His love and grace.

This season, we are absolutely thrilled to announce our partnership with the Lutheran Jr Saints, a non-profit football team for middle school-aged children that embodies heart, teamwork, and the true meaning of community. GJ Insurance is deeply committed to giving back to the community, and we have a long history of being involved in local causes. We have supported various organizations, from those providing care for animals in need to those that work to improve the lives of people with disabilities. We are proud to be part of such an incredible movement of giving back and making a positive difference in the lives of those around us. For this quarter's community cause cycle, we are proud to be supporting the Humane Society of Hamilton County. The HSHC is an open-admission, no-kill shelter dedicated to giving animals a second chance at love and life. Finding hurt and abandoned pets a forever home where they can be loved in a safe environment is a noble cause, and we are proud to support this organization.

We here at GJ Insurance are very passionate about helping our community in any way we can. In our past community causes, we've supported many charities helping neglected animals and charities helping those in our community with disabilities. For this community cause cycle, though, we've decided to support a charity that helps both animals and those with disabilities. Medical Mutts is a fantastic organization that provides service dogs to people with disabilities. The charity was founded in 2009 and has since helped hundreds of people with mental and physical health issues. Medical Mutts trains specialized diabetes alert, seizure, and psychiatric service dogs to assist their owners. The charity also provides training for the owners so that they can properly care for their service dogs. All the service dogs at Medical Mutts are rescues, meaning supporting this organization can save two lives instead of just one.

Aside from assisting some of the amazing men, women, and children of the Indiana community, our GJ Insurance Group team also takes pride in helping the animals. We are heartbroken that many sheltered animals suffer from life-threatening diseases and don’t get the treatment needed. That is why we have decided to take action and make a difference. The LOVE Pet Project is an all-breed rescue that started by rescuing parvo-positive dogs from local shelters while teaching veterinary students pertinent medical skills. In their first year, they rescued nearly 50 dogs with parvoviral enteritis and adopted them into new homes. Today, they have blossomed into an organization that helps animals suffering from various medical issues and helps locate survivors into new homes. Over 600 animals have been placed into new homes thanks to their efforts.

According to the CDC, about one in every four adults have some kind of special need. People with disabilities live very different lives from us. What might take seconds for us to do can become an impossible task for someone with a developmental disability. Due to the daily challenges, the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families is dramatically reduced. And the sad truth is that, as a society, we’re still a far way from catering to their particular needs. Numerous organizations have taken the issue into their own hands and are fighting to change how people with disabilities are treated. We believe in making our planet a better place by building a strong community that looks out for each other, and are proud to be supporting Noble for our newest Community Cause!

At GJ Insurance Group, we believe that every animal deserves a happy home and a loving family. To this end, we are proudly announcing a charity effort to raise support for IndyHumane, a nonprofit animal rescue hospital committed to providing care and rehoming services to animals in our area. Since 1905, IndyHumane has seen to the well-being of countless animals, and their new facility has plenty of space to provide care to many more. We want to help them in their mission, and we are setting a goal of raising $500 in donations for them.

UPDATE: We raised and donated $2,610 to Noble! According to the CDC, 26% of adults in the United States have some disability. That is 1 in 4 grown-ups that have some sort of special need. Going through life with a disability doesn't mean that there is no chance to achieve your dream.
